漏 Ilhan Balta 鈥?stock.adobe Crews in the VDOT Culpeper District are preparing for a winter storm that is forecast to arrive early Monday morning and drop 6 to 8 inches of snow across the district. High winds will accompany the snow; temperatures will plummet well below freezing overnight Monday.The predicted snow totals have increas stanley cup ed dramatically since yesterday; VDOT urges motorists to pay attention to local weather forecasts and to avoid traveling during the storm.VDOT crews will report to work Sunday evening to complete preparations.聽Once precipitation聽begins falling, VDOT snowplow聽operators and contract crews will treat roads with salt and sand to aid melting and improve traction. When the snow accumulates to about two inches, the plows will push the snow off the roadways.Crews will work around the clock to clear roads, beginning with interstates and primary highways, then shifting to secondary roads and stanley thermobecher neighborhoods once the main roads are passable.VDOT urges the public to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm since road conditions are likely to be hazardous. The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man on numerous charges after an officer responded to several calls of a suspicious man聽Wednesday聽morning.Officers arrested Samuel Matthew Moore, 54, for public intoxication, resisting arrest and felony assault battery on a law enforcement officer stemming from his early morning drunken escapade that started near Quadrangle Apartments and ended near Basic United Methodist Church.On June 4 at approximately聽7 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Quadrangle Apartments to investigate a call of a suspicious male following two young girls at the complex.聽 It was reported that the subject left on a bicycle.聽 As the officer was en route, another caller indicated that the same suspect had stolen a childs bicycle and was traveling on North Winchester Ave. Both callers indicated that the subject appeared intoxicated.The officer located the individual, Moore, near Basic United Methodist Church soon after arriving.聽 Moore, who was now o stanley cup n foot after abandoning the bicycle, was staggering through the church parking lot.聽 When the officer tried to arrest Moore for public intoxication, Moore refused the officers instructions and a termo stanley ttempted to walk away.聽 The officer took Moore by the arm at which point he attempted to pull away.聽 The officer took Moo stanley uk re to the ground and was able to handcuff one wrist.聽 While Moore was on the ground he kicked the officer in the groin.聽 The officer had to use his Taser to get Moore fully handcuffed and i |
