The Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Department is inviting all residents to put their fitness goals to the test this summer while celebrating stanley cup 65 years of healthy living in the Friendly City.The 65-Mile Fitness Challenge program kicked off July 1 and will run through Sept. 30. Parks and Recreation staff members have selected a variety of physical activities and opportunities for participants to log miles , and staff will be available to offer ideas for fitness activities and overall encouragement.漏 Kimberly ReinickThe program, formerly the 50-Mile Challenge, has been transformed into a self-guided 65-mile challenge in honor of the 65th anniversary of Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation. It is geared toward participants of all fitness levels, and all registered participants who complete the challenge will receive a one-of-a-kind 65-Mile Challenge t-shirt. Last year, the challenge helped the community learn about Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation programs and facilities they may utilize to be more active and achieve their fitness goals, Brittany Clem, Parks and Recreation mark stanley us et stanley canada ing and special projects coordinator, said. Ben ClineUnder Article 4 of the Constitution of Virginia, no regular session of the General Assembly convened in an even-numbered year shall continue longer than sixty days. 聽That means that the 2008 session should have adj stanley germany ourned for the year on Saturday, March 8.聽However, as the hours passed last Saturday, and the House聽finished voting on聽a few remaining bills, it became clear that disagreements over one聽bill in particular would keep us from adjourning on time: the state budget.The budget is considered just like any other bill 鈥?House and Senate versions are聽introduced, each bill is amended in a committee, and each bill is then passed by the full House or Senate.聽Then, as with any other bill, the differences between the House and Senate versions are resolved in a conference committee made up of about six delegates and six senators.
